About E.ON Next

E.ON acquired nPower in November 2019 as part of the Innogy (nPowers parent company) merger and began transitioning customers to E.ON Next in July 2020. It took less than a year to migrate 2 million former nPower customers and little disruption to them with completion being confirmed in May 2021.

E.ON also took over from energy supplier Powershop, combining the two customer bases to form E.ON Next. They have also acquired the customer base of former green energy supplier HUB as of August 2021.

E.ON Next provides 100% renewable electricity to residential supplies and small and medium-sized enterprises.

E.ON Next Electricity & Gas Tariffs

Although E.ON Next is a newcomer to the market, it has already shown credibility via its customer reviews with 5 stars on Trust Pilot.

Their message is very clear regarding zero-carbon energy.

All E.ON Next home customers get zero-carbon electricity at no extra cost as standard. You will see the full breakdown of where your energy comes from on your gas and/or electricity bills.

They also have a great initiative with their Next Drive tariff that offers a very low rate for charging your EV at a certain time of day.

The tariff options are as follows:

  • Next Flex/Standard/variable/ default tariff – If you haven’t agreed to a contract (if you have just moved house for example) or your previous deal has expired, you’ll be on this tariff. The costs change depending on wholesale, distribution and taxation costs. There are more cost-effective tariffs available if you compare and switch your energy through a price comparison service like Switch Squid. You will also be affected by the OFGEM Energy Price Cap. See our guide for more information on the Energy Price Cap.
  • Climate Positive – 12 month fixed term. 100% carbon offset gas, 100% renewable electricity and five trees planted for every year you’re on this tariff.
  • Next Online – 12 month fixed term. Online account management. No exit fees.
  • Next 2 Year – 2 year fixed term. No exit fees.
  • Next Drive – Highly discounted rates for certain times throughout the early hours, great for charging an electric vehicle.
