I compare broadband deals for a living, and 300Mbps broadband deals UK in September 2026 is the busy-household middle lane — faster than the 150 Mbps mass market, slower (and usually cheaper in year one) than the 500 Mbps and gigabit hype aisle.
Two 4K streams, a games console download, a video call and a few phones on Wi-Fi at once: this is the speed band people actually buy when they leave a 67–150 Mbps line and do not want to pay for marketing megabits they will never saturate. Gigabit posters are loud. Most homes do not need them. You need a honest average near 300 Mbps, a rise date in writing, and a first-year cash total that survives contact with setup fees.
uSwitch shows a 300Mbps+ filter with tiles from around £25.99, but there is no dedicated first-year-cash editorial for this speed. Mid-tier speeds sit as filters on the generic fibre compare page. Our own site already covers 150Mbps September, 500 Mbps August and gigabit August — and there was no live 300Mbps slug. That gap is why this page exists.
This page ranks 300Mbps broadband deals UK September 2026 by first-year cash from retailer own sites only: intro monthly, the March or April 2027 rise already written into the contract where disclosed, setup. Not commission. Not a Sport pack. Not a comparison exclusive that is cheaper than the ISP shop. Leaving-fee “switching credits” used to include Virgin’s up to £300 (removed 21 Sep 2026 per Awin mid 6399); EE and BT leaving-fee bill credits may still exist — but I do not subtract them from Year-1 cash. They are conditional reimbursements, not a gift.

How I count a year
Assumed start: order or activation around Saturday 5 September 2026. First twelve months of cash.
For a deal that discloses a rise on 31 March 2027 (BT Group: BT, EE) or April 2027 (Community Fibre’s annual path):
seven months at the intro rate (September 2026 through March 2027)
five months at the risen rate (April through August 2027)
Add setup or activation. Subtract a retailer gift or reward card only if it is stated on the retailer’s own site for that exact plan. None of the ranked ~300 rows today carry a gift I can net. Community Fibre’s flash 10% off (ends 16 September 2026) is already baked into the £21 comparison monthly I opened on their own site.
Virgin’s M350 holds its intro monthly for the full 24 months on the product framing I opened (M250 solus removed 1 Oct 2026); M350 — no in-year April pounds step on virginmedia.com legal — so those rows are simply twelve times the monthly plus setup. NOW Full Fibre 300 prints “price may change during the minimum term” without a fixed April pounds figure on nowtv.com, so I count twelve months at the live offer price and flag the caveat.
I rank the cost of staying twelve months. ETF and leaving-fee credits only count after you send the old bill. None of those is a promise it covers your specific exit fee.
I also flag technology. Openreach Full Fibre 300, Virgin cable (M250 averages 264 Mbps; M350 averages 362 Mbps), London altnet FTTP, and NOW Full Fibre 300 on Sky’s Openreach path are not the same product. Coverage is address-specific. A London-only sale that wins the cash table is useless in Leeds.
I rank by that first-year cash, not by who pays Switch the most.
300Mbps deals I could verify today
Prices below are Saturday 5 September 2026. New customers. Broadband-only. All figures come from the retailer’s own shop (or, for Community Fibre’s £21 row, the comparison table hosted on communityfibre.co.uk itself). None of them is available at every UK address. I have not invented an EE, BT, TalkTalk, Sky, Plusnet or Vodafone monthly I could not isolate on a product card without a postcode today.

Lead where Community Fibre has built: the 300 Mbps full fibre card at £267.00 year one. Lead for most of the UK where Virgin’s cable reaches and you want a true ~300 Mbps-class average: M350 at £311.88 Year-1 (£25.99/mo from 1 Oct 2026). M250 is no longer a live solus promo. National Openreach Full Fibre 300 from BT / EE is the coverage play, but I could not isolate a clean own-site broadband-only monthly without a postcode today, so those rows are in the dropped list rather than invented.
Community Fibre 300 Mbps
On communityfibre.co.uk, the provider’s own comparison modal (last verified by FDM for Community Fibre on 26 August 2026, still live when I opened the page on 5 September) lists 300 Mbps Full Fibre Broadband at £21.00 a month on 24 months, £0 setup, average download about 350 Mbps wired, same download and upload. Flash sale copy on the same site still says 10% off ends 16 September 2026.
Community Fibre’s legal path on that comparison: price rises by £4 at the end of the minimum term versus the last month, and by £3 annually annually in April thereafter. For a September 2026 start I therefore count seven months at £21 and five months at £24. First-year cash: £267.00.
Honest caveat: London (and limited South East) network only. If the checker returns nothing, they have not built your street. Do not force a London altnet into a national shortlist. Symmetrical glass is the product story — uploads match downloads in a way Virgin cable and most Openreach 300 tiers do not.
Virgin Media M250 and M350
From 1 October 2026, M250 Fibre Broadband is removed from Virgin Media’s live broadband-only promo ladder. Do not treat older £25.99 / £311.88 callouts as a live solus offer.
M350 Fibre Broadband is £25.99 a month from 1 October 2026 (was £28.99). Average download about 362 Mbps (upload around 35 Mbps on product copy). QuickStart £0. First-year cash: £311.88. Confirm the after-term monthly on virginmedia.com legal before you order.
M350’s monthly holds for the full 24 months on the framing I last verified — which is why it can still land ahead of many Openreach rows once twelve months are summed, even before you look at coverage. Re-open the shop at your postcode.
Virgin previously advertised up to £300 switching credit (ETF buyout); that offer was removed 21 September 2026 (Awin mid 6399 — not listed on current offers). I have not subtracted it from Year-1 cash.
Honest caveat: cable footprint only. Not Openreach FTTP. Upload is modest compared with symmetrical altnet glass. M250 previously sat just under a strict 300 Mbps average; with the solus tier removed, take M350 at £25.99 if you need a printed average at or above ~300 Mbps on Virgin cable.
NOW Full Fibre 300
On nowtv.com/broadband, NOW Full Fibre 300 prints an offer price of £28 a month in the page JSON I fetched on 5 September 2026, with £0 activation and £0 delivery. Average download 300 Mb/s, upload about 40 Mb/s, available to about 79% of UK homes on their copy. Checkout continues on Sky’s NOW-powered-by-Sky path. First-year cash at the live offer: £336.00.
Honest caveat: “Price may change during 24-month minimum term.” Unlike Community Fibre or BT Group, NOW does not print a fixed April 2027 pounds figure on the card I opened. Year-1 at £28 assumes the offer holds; re-read the Sky checkout summary before you click.
Who needs 300Mbps
Ofcom groups ultrafast as roughly 100–999 Mbps. 300 Mbps sits in the lower half of that band — a clear step up from Full Fibre 150 / Virgin M125, without jumping to 500 Mbps or gigabit marketing.
One 4K stream needs roughly 25 Mbps. Two or three streams, a console download, cloud backups and a busy Wi-Fi flat are why people leave sub-150 Mbps lines. For a couple or a small family with several devices, 300 Mbps is usually the sweet spot. Dense 4K households, big uploads and NAS work belong on our 500 Mbps or gigabit pages — not this table.
Buy the technology at your address. Symmetrical Community Fibre 300/300, NOW Full Fibre 300 on Openreach, and Virgin cable at 264/25 or 362/35 are different products with different upload stories. Wi-Fi will almost never show the full average on a phone in the far bedroom. Ethernet or a decent mesh is the honest test.
What I dropped today
I am not inventing pounds for rows I could not isolate on a retailer product card on 5 September 2026:
EE — ee.co.uk/broadband today leads on 150 / 500 / 900 / 1.6Gbps Core. No live 300Mbps Core card on the shop I opened. Older comparison tiles citing EE Full Fibre 300 are not today’s own-site SKU.
BT Full Fibre 300 — bt.com/broadband/deals is a postcode SPA. Community Fibre’s own comparison cites BT FF300 around £32.99, but I will not rank a monthly I could not open as a clean broadband-only card without an address.
TalkTalk / Plusnet / OneStream — retailer pages returned 403/401 from this research box. No invented monthly.
Sky Full Fibre 300 — appears on Community Fibre’s competitor table at £29; not isolated on sky.com without postcode as a BB-only quote today.
Vodafone — “from £” hero language; Full Fibre 300/500 not isolated without basket.
Hyperoptic — residential tiers are 150 / 500 / 900 (and location-variable). No named 300 Mb product to rank.

If BT, EE, Sky or TalkTalk print a clean Full Fibre 300 broadband-only card at your postcode, use that quote — and ignore any comparison tile that undercuts the ISP shop.
Live cards above pull from the same feed as the hub. They may return junk or TV bundles. Treat them as a starting point. The ranking table is the retailer-verified first-year cash.
FAQ
Is 300Mbps enough for Netflix and working from home?
For a couple or small family, usually yes. A 4K stream is about 25 Mbps. Add a second stream, a video call and a few phones and you are still well inside a real ~300 Mbps average. Heavy multi-4K households and big uploaders should look at 500 Mbps instead.
Why is Virgin’s M250 still mentioned if it averages 264 Mbps?
It was the mid-tier cable step below M350, but from 1 October 2026 M250 is removed from live solus promos. For a printed average at or above ~300 Mbps on Virgin, take M350 at £311.88 Year-1 (£25.99/mo).
Do Community Fibre’s London prices count nationally?
No. They win the cash table only where Community Fibre has built. Outside that footprint, start with Virgin M350 where the cabinet is yours, then NOW Full Fibre 300 or Openreach Full Fibre 300 from BT / EE once you have a postcode quote.
Why don’t you subtract Virgin’s £300 switching credit?
Because it is removed (Awin mid 6399, 21 Sep 2026) — and even when live it was an ETF / leaving-fee reimbursement, not a retailer gift on the broadband bill. Same rule for EE and BT leaving-fee credits. Year-1 cash is setup plus months 1–12. Credits are a separate conversation once you have the old exit fee in writing.
Will my bill rise in April 2027?
Community Fibre’s comparison legal discloses a £3 annual April path after the in-contract months. Virgin M350 holds the intro monthly for 24 months on the product framing I opened (M250 solus removed 1 Oct 2026) — then jump hard after the term. NOW says price may change during the term without printing a fixed April pounds figure. Always read the contract summary at your postcode.
What about EE, BT, TalkTalk and Sky?
Plans in this speed band exist on Openreach, but I could not verify an isolated broadband-only monthly on the retailer shop without a postcode today (and TalkTalk / Plusnet blocked the fetch). I will not invent one. Check the ISP site with your address; skip comparison exclusives that are not on the shop.
How do I switch without a long downtime?
Use One Touch Switch where it applies. Order the new line first, keep the old service until the new one is live, then cancel., then confirm technology, average speed, rise date and setup before you click through.
Compare at your postcode
The mid-tier deal only exists if the network has built the street — Community Fibre in London, Virgin’s cable cabinet, NOW Full Fibre 300 on Openreach, or Full Fibre 300 from BT / EE once your postcode returns a card..
Then, before you click through:
Confirm the technology (FTTP vs cable vs FTTC leftover).
Write down the average download and upload.
Find the March / April 2027 rise (or the “price may change” line) in the contract summary.
Add setup or activation to twelve months of cash — that is Year-1, not the tile monthly alone.
Ignore comparison exclusives that are not on the retailer’s own shop.
