As of 21 October 2026, the best broadband deal with free setup we found is Hey!Broadband’s Superfast 150 full fibre at £23 a month on a 24-month contract, with no setup fee and a free router and standard installation that Hey!Broadband values at over £150. For faster speeds, Hey!Broadband’s 900Mbps plan is £35 a month, and in rural Scotland Highland Broadband’s 1000Mbps plan is £34.99. The catch: these are regional full fibre networks, so you need to check your postcode, and the prices rise each April.
This SwitchSquid guide puts the monthly price first, then the setup costs and the yearly rises, so you can see the real cost of each deal before you check availability.

Which broadband deal is best this month?
If Hey!Broadband reaches your street, its Superfast 150 plan at £23 a month is the cheapest full fibre deal with free setup we found on 21 October 2026. 150Mbps is enough for a household that streams in HD on two or three screens and works from home. Over the first year that is £276, with nothing to pay upfront for the router or standard installation.
Busier homes should look at Hey!Broadband’s Megafast 400 at £33 a month or Gigafast 900 at £35 a month. Both include the same free router and standard installation, and Hey!Broadband adds £100 bill credit if you use One Touch Switch at checkout on a 24-month contract, which takes the first-year cost of the 900Mbps plan from £420 to about £320.
In rural Scotland, Highland Broadband is worth checking first. Its Essential 150 is £24.99 a month and its Family 1000 is £34.99 a month, and on a 24-month contract its switching credit covers up to 12 months of your existing contract, which removes the usual reason to wait.

On a 24-month contract, switching credit covers up to 12 months of your existing contract. Year one: about £420 before any credit
Main limitation: Highland Broadband only builds in Scotland, and the monthly price rises each April
Is free installation really free?
Usually, for a standard job. Hey!Broadband and Quickline both list a free router and free installation for new customers, and BT has a £0 activation fee on its current offers. “Standard installation” normally means an engineer connects the fibre to a point near where it enters your home. Longer cable runs, extra wall drilling or an awkward route can cost extra, so ask before the engineer visit if your router needs to sit somewhere unusual.
How the yearly price rises affect the real cost
Most of these deals have a fixed price rise each April, written into the contract in pounds rather than a percentage. Hey!Broadband adds £2 a month each April, so its £23 plan becomes £25 from April 2027 and £27 from April 2028. Highland Broadband lists a £4 a month rise each April from 2027 on its Essential 150 plan. Over a 24-month contract that is a small but real difference, and it is worth comparing total cost rather than the first monthly price.
Best broadband deals for rural homes

Rural homes are where the regional full fibre networks shine. Highland Broadband builds across rural Scotland, with offices in Edinburgh and Inverness, and Quickline focuses on rural Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, where it was named Best Rural Fibre Provider at the UK Fibre Awards 2026. Quickline also says it will help cover eligible broadband termination fees if you switch before your current contract ends.
If neither reaches you, our guide to rural full fibre availability explains the other options, and Squid AI can check which deals cover your postcode.
How to switch broadband
Check your current contract end date, as leaving early can mean exit fees unless your new provider covers them.
Check availability at your postcode with the new provider.
Order and choose an installation date. Most providers now use One Touch Switch, so they cancel your old service for you.
Keep your old router until the new service is working, then return it if your old provider asks.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest broadband deal with free installation?
On 21 October 2026, the cheapest we found was Hey!Broadband Superfast 150 at £23 a month on 24 months, with no setup fee and a free router and standard installation. It rises to £25 a month from April 2027. Availability depends on your postcode.
Is Hey!Broadband available everywhere?
No. Hey!Broadband runs its own full fibre network, so it is only available in the areas it has built. Enter your postcode on its website to check before you plan a switch.
What does One Touch Switch mean?
One Touch Switch lets your new provider arrange the move and cancel your old broadband for you, so you do not need to call your current provider. Hey!Broadband adds £100 bill credit when you use it at checkout on a 24-month contract.
Will Highland Broadband pay my exit fees?
Highland Broadband says its switching credit covers up to 12 months of your contract with it when you sign up on a 24-month contract. That can offset an early exit fee from your current provider, but check the terms for your situation.
Do broadband prices go up every April?
Most UK providers now write fixed pound rises into the contract. Hey!Broadband adds £2 a month each April, and Highland Broadband lists £4 a month each April from 2027 on Essential 150, so compare the total cost over the full contract.
Is 150Mbps fast enough?
For most households of one to three people, yes. It handles HD streaming on several screens, video calls and home working. Choose 400Mbps or faster if you have several heavy users, game online or upload large files.
