Next update: when VOXI or Smarty change their SIM only prices, or when VOXI’s 3x data offer changes on 26 November 2026.
By: Switch Editorial Team, Switch Squid Ltd
As of 20 October 2026, VOXI is a good no-contract network if you spend a lot of time on social apps: its 30-day plans start at £10 a month for 20GB plus data-free social media, every plan is price-locked, and Which? gave it a customer score of 79% in its January 2026 survey, joint third of 15 providers. The catches are roaming and big allowances: you pay from £2.60 a day to use your plan in most of Europe, and VOXI’s unlimited plan is £35 a month, while Smarty charges £20 a month for unlimited data. VOXI is owned by Vodafone and runs on the combined Vodafone and Three network. This SwitchSquid review covers what VOXI costs, what its customers say, how good its coverage is, its main disadvantages and when another network is the cheaper home for your number. We may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it doesn’t change the price you pay.

Smarty 16GB — £8 a month, no contract
16GB of data with unlimited UK calls and texts for £8 a month on a one-month plan when we checked on 20 October 2026
No annual price rises and no credit check, on Three’s network
Main limitation: no data-free social apps like VOXI’s, and EU roaming has a 12GB fair use limit
VOXI review: the short verdict
Good for: people who use Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and other social apps all day and want a rolling plan with no annual price rises.
Network: VOXI says it runs on the combined Vodafone and Three network, with 5G on every plan where it’s available.
Prices: £10 to £35 a month on 30-day rolling plans, each one price-locked for as long as you stay on it.
Customer view: 79% in Which?’s January 2026 survey, joint third of 15, and 3.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 23,931 reviews.
Weak spots: no free EU roaming, data-free social apps don’t cover voice or video calls, and the unlimited plan costs more than rivals.
In short, VOXI is worth a look if its data-free apps would genuinely cut how much data you need. If you mostly stream, browse or work on the go, a plain big-data plan elsewhere is usually cheaper.
What VOXI costs in October 2026
When we checked VOXI’s SIM only page on 20 October 2026, it listed five 30-day rolling plans. All include unlimited UK calls and texts, 5G, eSIM as an option, and VOXI’s promise that the monthly price stays the same while you stay on that plan.
£10 a month: 20GB of data, plus unlimited data on 7 social media apps. VOXI calls this its best seller.
£12 a month: 75GB of data on VOXI’s 3x data offer (usually 25GB), plus unlimited social media, music and video on 20 apps.
£15 a month: 35GB of data, plus unlimited social media, music and video on 20 apps.
£20 a month: 300GB of data on the 3x data offer (usually 100GB), plus the same 20 data-free apps.
£35 a month: unlimited data.
VOXI’s offer terms say the 3x data offer on the £12 and £20 plans runs until 26 November 2026. After that date, the £12 plan returns to 25GB and the £20 plan to 100GB, so judge each plan on what it will give you once the offer period is over, not just today.
VOXI also runs VOXI For Now, a social tariff for people receiving benefits such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Personal Independence Payment. It gives unlimited data, calls and texts for £10 a month for six months, after which it moves to the standard £10 plan unless you reapply. Our VOXI SIM only deals page lists VOXI’s plans side by side, and our guide to VOXI’s 3x data plans explains how the boosted allowances work.

VOXI vs Smarty: what you pay over a year
Smarty is the most useful comparison. Like VOXI, it sells one-month plans with no contract, no credit check and no annual price rises, and it is part of the same VodafoneThree group, running on Three’s network. The difference is that Smarty gives you plain data with no data-free apps, but more of it for the money.
Plan | Data | Data-free apps | Price a month | Cost over 12 months* | Contract |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
VOXI £10 | 20GB | 7 social apps | £10 | £120 | 30-day rolling |
VOXI £12 | 75GB (25GB after 26 Nov) | 20 apps | £12 | £144 | 30-day rolling |
VOXI £15 | 35GB | 20 apps | £15 | £180 | 30-day rolling |
VOXI £20 | 300GB (100GB after 26 Nov) | 20 apps | £20 | £240 | 30-day rolling |
VOXI Unlimited | Unlimited | Not needed | £35 | £420 | 30-day rolling |
Smarty 16GB | 16GB | None | £8 | £96 | 1 month, rolling |
Smarty 100GB | 100GB | None | £12 | £144 | 1 month, rolling |
Smarty Unlimited | Unlimited | Not needed | £20 | £240 | 1 month, rolling |
*Twelve monthly payments at today’s price. VOXI prices are from its SIM only page and Smarty prices from its plan pages, all checked on 20 October 2026.
Two things stand out. For unlimited data, Smarty is £15 a month cheaper than VOXI, which is £180 over a year. At £12, the plans are close while VOXI’s 3x offer lasts, but from 27 November VOXI’s £12 plan drops back to 25GB plus data-free apps, against Smarty’s 100GB. VOXI’s best value is at the low end, if its data-free social apps mean 20GB really is enough for you.
Smarty Unlimited — £20 a month
Unlimited 5G and 4G data with unlimited UK calls and texts for £20 a month on a one-month plan when we checked on 20 October 2026
£15 a month less than VOXI’s £35 unlimited plan, or £180 over 12 months
Cancel or change at the end of any month, with no annual price rises
Is VOXI good coverage?
VOXI says it runs on what it calls The Nation’s Network, the combined network of Vodafone and Three created by the VodafoneThree merger. Which?’s review describes VOXI as a virtual provider using Vodafone’s infrastructure, with 4G and 5G but no 3G, because Vodafone has switched its 3G network off. In practice, your VOXI signal should match Vodafone’s at the same address.
National awards don’t tell you about your own street. In the 2026 Uswitch awards, which used Opensignal data for these two categories, O2 won Best Mobile Network Coverage and EE won Fastest Mobile Network Overall. Before you switch, check your home, your work and your commute on the Vodafone network checker. Our guide to the best UK mobile networks for coverage and 5G explains how the four networks compare.
What customers say about VOXI
Which?’s January 2026 survey of 5,137 mobile customers gave VOXI a customer score of 79%, level with Smarty and giffgaff in joint third place out of 15 providers. Only Talkmobile, on 83%, and Tesco Mobile, on 81%, scored higher. VOXI’s score was down from 81% a year earlier, as reported by ISPreview. Quotes from VOXI customers in the Which? review include “It is good for lower income individuals” and “They need to bring back included EU roaming”.
In the 2026 Uswitch awards, VOXI won four titles decided by a survey of mobile customers: Mobile Network of the Year, Best Value for Money Mobile Provider, Best SIM Only Mobile Network and Best Mobile Network for Data.
On Trustpilot, VOXI had a TrustScore of 3.3 out of 5 from 23,931 reviews when we checked on 20 October 2026, with 63% of reviews giving five stars. Recent reviews praise patient, helpful support staff, the flexible rolling plans and the price lock. The common complaints are website problems, delays moving a number, an unhelpful chatbot before you reach a person, and slow signal in some areas. Trustpilot also notes VOXI hasn’t invited customers to review recently, so the reviews may not be representative.

What are the disadvantages of VOXI?
No free roaming in most of Europe: outside Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway, you need a European Roaming Pass. It costs £2.60 for one day, £4.80 for two days, £15 for eight days or £20 for 15 days, and roaming data is capped at 20GB per 30-day plan.
Data-free apps have limits: unlimited social media doesn’t include voice or video calls made through those apps, it only works in the UK, and you need some general data left on your plan to use it.
The unlimited plan is expensive: £35 a month is £15 more than Smarty’s unlimited plan.
Boosted allowances are temporary: the 75GB and 300GB allowances return to 25GB and 100GB after 26 November 2026.
Support can be patchy: recent Trustpilot reviews mention chatbot loops and slow number transfers, even though many also praise the support team.
The upside of a 30-day plan is that none of these locks you in. If VOXI doesn’t suit you, you can move your number at the end of any month.
Is VOXI as good as Vodafone?
On network, they are the same: VOXI is a Vodafone brand, and the footer of its website says it is run by Vodafone Limited. Customers rated VOXI more highly: 79% in Which?’s January 2026 survey, against 72% for Vodafone itself.
The bigger difference is the contract. Vodafone’s pay monthly plans rise by £2.50 a month every 1 April, according to Vodafone’s price-change terms. VOXI’s 30-day plans are price-locked and can be cancelled at any time. Vodafone’s own plans may include extras VOXI doesn’t, so compare the full package if roaming or entertainment matter to you, and see our Vodafone SIM only deals page for current plans.
Is EE better or VOXI?
EE is better on speed tests and VOXI is better on price flexibility. EE won Fastest Mobile Network Overall in the 2026 Uswitch awards, based on Opensignal data, and EE customers gave it 74% in Which?’s January 2026 survey, five points below VOXI.
EE’s SIM only plans usually come with a minimum term, and EE says SIM only plans taken out from 31 July 2025 rise by £2.50 a month every 31 March. On a £25 plan, that’s £27.50 from the first March and £30 from the second. VOXI has no contract and no annual rises. If EE has a much better signal where you live, that can outweigh the price; if both work well, VOXI or Smarty will usually cost less. We also cover EE deals for existing customers.
How to switch to VOXI, or away from it, and keep your number
Check coverage: test your postcode on the Vodafone network checker, or on Three’s if you are thinking about Smarty.
Get your PAC code: text PAC to 65075 from your current phone. The code is free and arrives by text, along with any charges for leaving.
Order the new SIM or eSIM: enter the PAC code when you order or activate. The number normally moves within one working day.
Check your old contract: if you are still in a minimum term, you may owe an early exit fee. Rolling plans like VOXI’s and Smarty’s have none.
If you’d rather describe how you use your phone and get suggestions, Squid AI, SwitchSquid’s AI deal assistant, can suggest SIM plans for your usage and budget.
Fit summary
Good fit for VOXI: heavy social media users who want 20GB to 35GB plus data-free apps, people on benefits who qualify for VOXI For Now, and anyone who wants Vodafone’s network without a contract.
Good fit for Smarty: people who want unlimited data for £20 or 100GB for £12, and anyone who prefers plain data over app bundles.
Think twice about VOXI: if you travel in Europe often, because daily passes add up quickly.
Important conditions
VOXI’s plans are 30-day rolling subscriptions and can be cancelled at any time.
The 3x data allowances on the £12 and £20 plans apply until 26 November 2026, after which they return to 25GB and 100GB.
Data-free apps exclude voice and video calls, work only in the UK and need some general data on your plan.
VOXI For Now lasts six months and needs an eligibility check; you can reapply if you still qualify.
Smarty’s plans run month to month with no annual price rises, and its EU roaming has a 12GB monthly fair use limit.

FAQ
Is VOXI a good network?
VOXI scored 79% in Which?’s January 2026 survey, joint third of 15 providers, and won Mobile Network of the Year in the 2026 Uswitch awards. It runs on the Vodafone and Three network with 5G included. Its weak spots are paid roaming in Europe and a pricey unlimited plan.
What network does VOXI use?
VOXI is owned by Vodafone and says it runs on the combined Vodafone and Three network. It is a virtual brand, so your signal should be the same as Vodafone’s at your address. Check your postcode on Vodafone’s network checker before you switch.
Does VOXI have free EU roaming?
No, except in Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway. Elsewhere in Europe you buy a European Roaming Pass, from £2.60 for one day to £20 for 15 days. Roaming data is capped at 20GB per 30-day plan, and data-free apps count against your allowance abroad.
Does VOXI put prices up every year?
No. VOXI says each plan is price-locked, so the monthly price stays the same while you stay on that plan. Its plans are 30-day rolling subscriptions you can cancel at any time.
Is VOXI cheaper than Smarty?
It depends on how you use data. VOXI’s £10 plan with data-free social apps can suit heavy social media users, but Smarty charges £20 a month for unlimited data against VOXI’s £35. Smarty’s 100GB plan costs £12 a month, the same as VOXI’s 75GB plan during its 3x data offer.
Can anyone join VOXI?
Yes, VOXI’s SIM only plans are open to new customers, and you can order a free SIM or use an eSIM. VOXI For Now is only for people receiving benefits such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Personal Independence Payment, and needs an eligibility check.
How do I leave VOXI and keep my number?
Text PAC to 65075 from your VOXI phone to get your free PAC code. Give the code to your new provider, and your number should normally move within one working day. Because VOXI plans are rolling, there is no contract to pay off.
