On iD Mobile, the iPhone 17 256GB with 100GB of data costs £39.99 a month plus £199 upfront on a 24-month plan, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB with 100GB costs £41.99 a month plus £149 upfront. Both include unlimited minutes and texts, and both rise by £1.80 a month in April 2027 and again in April 2028, so the true two-year cost is a little over £1,200 for either phone. iD lists these handset offers from 9 October to 18 December 2026.
SwitchSquid has worked out the full 24-month cost of each deal, including the upfront payment and the price rises, so you can compare them fairly with what you would pay elsewhere.
The headline deal: iPhone 17 256GB with 100GB

Monthly price | £39.99, rising to £41.79 from April 2027 and £43.59 from April 2028 |
Contract | 24 months |

The iPhone 17 is the deal most people will be looking at. The monthly price is the lowest of the three phones we compare here, and 100GB is plenty for almost everyone: you would need to stream video for several hours every day to get through it. iD also rolls unused data over into the next month once, so a quieter month helps the next one.
SwitchSquid may earn a commission if you buy through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which deals we feature or how we rank them.
The main limitation is the length of the commitment. Twenty-four months is a long time, and the monthly price goes up twice during the contract. The rises are fixed in pounds and pence, which at least means there are no surprises.

iD Mobile handset deals compared, October 2026
Here are the three 100GB deals side by side. All are 24-month plans with unlimited minutes and texts, and the prices are those shown on iD Mobile's site on 19 October 2026.
Phone | Upfront | Monthly price now | From April 2027 | From April 2028 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Apple iPhone 17 256GB | £199 | £39.99 | £41.79 | £43.59 |
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB | £149 | £41.99 | £43.79 | £45.59 |
Apple iPhone 18 Pro 256GB | £189 | £44.99 | £46.79 | £48.59 |
What each phone really costs over 24 months
To compare fairly, we have added up the upfront payment and all 24 monthly payments, including the April rises. We have assumed your first monthly bill falls in November 2026, which gives five months at today's price, twelve months at the April 2027 price and seven months at the April 2028 price. If you start in a different month, your total will move by a few pounds.
Phone | Upfront | 24 monthly payments | Total over 24 months | Average per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Apple iPhone 17 256GB | £199 | £1,006.56 | £1,205.56 | about £50.23 |
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB | £149 | £1,054.56 | £1,203.56 | about £50.15 |
Apple iPhone 18 Pro 256GB | £189 | £1,126.56 | £1,315.56 | about £54.82 |
The iPhone 17 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra end up just £2 apart over two years, which is close enough that you should simply choose the phone you prefer. The S26 Ultra is Samsung's top model, so getting it for roughly the same total as Apple's standard iPhone is good value if you are happy on Android. The iPhone 18 Pro costs about £110 more than the iPhone 17 over the contract, mostly because of the higher monthly price.

Which deal suits you?
iPhone 17: the best fit if you already use an iPhone and want the lowest monthly price. It suits most people who do not need a professional camera system.
Galaxy S26 Ultra: for Android users who want Samsung's top-of-the-range model, for almost the same two-year cost as the iPhone 17.
iPhone 18 Pro: for people who want Apple's newer Pro model. It costs noticeably more, so it makes most sense if you will use the extra camera and performance features.
iD also lists the Galaxy S26 256GB with 100GB at £35.99 a month plus £99 upfront, or £38.99 a month plus £29 upfront, on a 24-month plan. Prices rise each April. Check iD's phone pages if that is the model you want.
About iD Mobile
iD Mobile is owned by Currys and runs on the Three network. iD says its 4G reaches 99% of the UK population, based on Three's coverage, and that 5G is included as standard. Coverage still varies from street to street, so check the coverage map for your home and workplace before you sign up.
A few features stand out on iD's pay monthly plans. Unused data rolls over once into the next month. Bill capping lets you set a limit so your bill cannot run away from you. You can also use your allowance in a number of destinations abroad, which iD lists on its roaming page. iD claims customers save £290 a year on average against like-for-like phone contracts from the major networks; that figure is iD's own, based on prices between April and July 2026.
Price rises: what the rules say
Since 17 January 2025, Ofcom has banned phone, broadband and pay TV providers from using inflation-linked or percentage price rises in new contracts. Any rise has to be shown in pounds and pence before you sign, along with the date it takes effect. That is why iD can tell you now that the iPhone 17 will cost £41.79 a month from April 2027 and £43.59 from April 2028. If a provider raises your price by more than your contract says, Ofcom's rules give you the right to leave without a penalty.

Important conditions to read before ordering
Credit check: phone contracts are a form of credit, so iD will run a credit check before approving the order.
24-month commitment: leaving early usually means paying off the rest of the contract.
One phone at a time: iD's basket only allows one phone contract per order.
Apple subscription: the free months are on Apple models only and need to be claimed. Check which service is included and set a reminder to cancel if you do not want to pay once the free period finishes.
Stock and colours: the prices shown are for the 256GB Black models. Other colours or storage sizes may cost more.
Offer window: iD lists these handset offers from 9 October to 18 December 2026. Prices can change, so the basket price is the one that counts.

Our verdict
For most people the iPhone 17 deal is the one to beat: about £1,206 over two years for a new iPhone with 100GB a month. If you prefer Android, the Galaxy S26 Ultra costs about £2 less across the contract for Samsung's flagship phone. The iPhone 18 Pro is a good deal for a Pro model, but at about £1,316 it only makes sense if you will make use of the extras.
Details are correct as of 19 October 2026. Please check the basket before you order.
