Is GigSky a good travel eSIM? GigSky is a data-only travel eSIM you buy and manage in its app, and as of 28 October 2026 its 10GB, 30-day plans cost £6.99 for Spain, £10.49 for Turkey and £15.99 for the USA. It is strong value in much of Europe, but not the cheapest for America, where Mozillion’s 10GB, 30-day USA eSIM is £11 and Breeze’s is £12. This SwitchSquid review looks at what GigSky actually sells, what its customers say, where it beats the alternatives and where it does not. Prices below come from GigSky’s own published plan list in pounds and from each retailer’s page, all checked on 28 October 2026. If you buy through the buttons on this page, we may earn a commission; it does not change the price you pay.

  • Main limitation: the plan covers the USA only, and you need an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone

GigSky in one minute: what you get

GigSky is a travel eSIM brand that sells data in its own app and on its website. Instead of a plastic SIM, you download a digital SIM profile to your phone, then buy data for the country, region or cruise you are visiting. The same eSIM stays on your phone, so on the next trip you open the app, pick a new destination and buy another plan rather than installing a fresh profile.

  • Coverage: GigSky says its plans cover more than 200 countries, regions and cruises, with separate plans for land, cruise, ferry and in-flight use.

  • Plans: fixed data bundles (for example 1GB for 7 days, 10GB for 30 days) plus unlimited day passes priced by the number of days.

  • Free trial: GigSky offers a free 100MB plan when you sign up, valid for 7 days, with no card needed. It is enough to test the eSIM installs, not enough for a holiday.

  • Visa cardholder perks: some Visa cards unlock complimentary GigSky data in selected countries. Whether yours qualifies depends on the card issuer, so check before counting on it.

  • Data only: GigSky’s plan list shows data allowances only. Keep your UK SIM switched on for texts such as bank codes, and use apps like WhatsApp for calls.

GigSky also describes itself as a mobile operator that works directly with network partners, rather than reselling another brand’s service. In practice that matters most when something goes wrong, because support can see the connection rather than passing your ticket on.

Prices are one-off payments for the data and validity shown, checked on 28 October 2026 on gigsky.com (in pounds), mozillion.com and breezesim.com. Breeze lists its 10GB USA plan at £12 against £17 and its 20GB plan at £21 against £26 as current offers. Prices can change at any time, so check the final total at checkout.

Three things stand out. GigSky is the cheapest of the three for Spain, and the same £6.99 for 10GB applies in Portugal. For the USA it is the most expensive at 10GB, by about £4 to £5. And GigSky’s longer-validity plans, such as 20GB for 180 days in the USA, are useful if you visit more than once in six months.

What GigSky customers say

On 28 October 2026, GigSky’s Trustpilot page showed a score of 4.3 out of 5 from 8,351 reviews. GigSky’s own site quotes 4.3 from 7,700 reviews and 4.8 out of 5 in the App Store. The recent Trustpilot reviews follow a clear pattern:

  • Praise: quick installation, activation that works on arrival and dependable data in big cities.

  • Complaints: patchy coverage indoors or in rural areas, slow speeds on some networks and occasional trouble connecting the first time. One reviewer said one of three free Visa eSIMs did not work on a family holiday.

That is typical for travel eSIMs. Your phone joins a local network as a roaming visitor, and which network you land on affects speed indoors. If you will rely on data for work, buy a slightly bigger plan than you think you need and install it at home before you fly.

GigSky pros and cons

  • Pro: cheap in much of Europe. £6.99 for 10GB over 30 days in Spain and Portugal is among the lowest prices we have seen for that allowance.

  • Pro: one eSIM for every trip. No need to install a new profile each holiday.

  • Pro: cruise and ferry plans. Useful if you cruise, where ship Wi-Fi is often expensive.

  • Pro: long-validity bundles. 20GB for 180 days in the USA, or 50GB for 180 days in Spain at £24.99.

  • Con: dearer for the USA. £15.99 for 10GB against £11 at Mozillion and £12 at Breeze.

  • Con: dollar pricing by default. Switch the site to pounds, or your card may add a foreign transaction fee.

  • Con: data only. No UK number for calls or texts on the GigSky plan itself.

Is GigSky cheaper than roaming with your UK network?

Often, yes, for data. Several UK networks now charge a daily fee for EU roaming, and roaming outside Europe can be much dearer. A one-off £6.99 for 10GB in Spain is likely to beat a daily roaming charge over a week-long holiday, though some UK plans include European roaming at no extra cost. Check your own plan first; our EU roaming SIM only deals guide lists which ones do.

For the USA the picture is different: few UK plans include it, so a travel eSIM is usually the cheaper way to get data. That is where the USA plans from Mozillion and Breeze come in.

GigSky vs Mozillion vs Breeze: which should you buy?

There is no single winner, because prices differ by destination. Based on the plans checked on 28 October 2026:

  • Going to Spain or Portugal: GigSky at £6.99 for 10GB is the cheapest of the three.

  • Going to the USA: Mozillion is cheapest for 10GB at £11, and Breeze’s 20GB at £21 is the better buy if you stream, navigate all day or share a hotspot.

  • Going to Turkey for more than a week: Breeze’s 20GB at £15 gives twice the data of GigSky’s largest fixed Turkey plan (10GB at £10.49).

Mozillion says its eSIM is reusable across destinations and activates automatically on arrival, with top-ups on the go. Breeze lists the US networks it uses (Verizon and AT&T), includes hotspot on all plans and starts the validity clock on first use in the destination rather than at purchase. Need more data in the USA? Breeze 20GB for £21

  • 20GB for 30 days on Verizon and AT&T for £21, shown against £26
  • No code needed; personal hotspot included, and validity starts on first use in the USA
  • Data only: keep your UK SIM for calls and texts. Buy two or more and Breeze takes 10% off

How to set up a travel eSIM before you fly

  1. Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked. Most iPhones from the XS onwards and recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones do. Our eSIM explainer covers how to check.

  2. Buy and install at home on Wi-Fi. Installing takes a couple of minutes. Leave the plan switched off until you land.

  3. On arrival, switch mobile data to the travel eSIM. Keep your UK SIM on for calls and texts, but turn off data roaming on it to avoid charges.

  4. Watch your usage. Check your data use in GigSky’s app; Breeze alerts at 50% and 80%.

FAQ

Is GigSky a good eSIM for UK travellers?

GigSky is a solid choice, with a 4.3 out of 5 Trustpilot score from 8,351 reviews on 28 October 2026. It is particularly good value in Spain and Portugal, where 10GB for 30 days costs £6.99. For the USA, Mozillion and Breeze were cheaper when we checked.

How much does GigSky cost for the USA?

GigSky’s USA plans in pounds start at £1.99 for 1GB over 7 days, with 10GB for 30 days at £15.99 and 20GB for 180 days at £21.99. These were GigSky’s sterling prices on 28 October 2026.

Does GigSky give you a phone number?

GigSky’s plans are data plans, so you do not get a UK or local phone number for regular calls and texts. Keep your UK SIM active for texts such as bank security codes, and use internet calling apps for calls.

Is the GigSky free eSIM really free?

GigSky offers a free 100MB plan when you sign up, valid for 7 days, and says no card is needed. It is useful for testing that the eSIM installs and connects, but you will need a paid plan for a real trip.

Can I use GigSky on a cruise?

Yes. GigSky sells cruise and ferry plans for a range of cruise lines, plus cruise-and-land bundles for regions such as Europe. Ship plans are priced separately from land plans, so check the plan matches your ship and itinerary.

Which is cheaper, GigSky or Breeze?

It depends on where you are going. On 28 October 2026, GigSky was cheaper for 10GB in Spain (£6.99 against £10), while Breeze was cheaper for 10GB in the USA (£12 against £15.99) and offered 20GB in Turkey for £15.

Do I need to switch off my UK SIM when using a travel eSIM?

No, you can keep both on. Set the travel eSIM for mobile data and turn off data roaming on your UK SIM, so you can still receive calls and texts without being charged for data.

Final decision card

GigSky is a well-reviewed travel eSIM that wins on price for much of Europe, with 10GB for 30 days at £6.99 in Spain and Portugal, and it suits cruisers and frequent travellers who want one app for every trip. For the USA it costs more than the alternatives: Mozillion charges £11 for 10GB over 30 days, and Breeze offers 20GB for £21 if you need more. Check your destination, pick the allowance you need and install the eSIM before you fly.

Heading to Turkey? Breeze 20GB for £15

  • 20GB for 30 days for £15, shown against £19, twice the data of GigSky’s largest fixed Turkey plan
  • No code needed; hotspot included and 5G where available
  • Check your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM before you buy
