On Apple’s September 2026 UK cash ladder, moving from iPhone 18 Pro 256GB (£1,199) to Pro Max (£1,299) is a clean £100 decision about screen and battery. Jumping to Duo (£1,999) is an £800 decision about form factor. Network contracts will compress those gaps differently once upfront credits and airtime bundles appear — which is why we refuse to print a fake “Duo from £XX/month” in mid-September.
If you already pay for a mid-range contract, price the whole replacement: remaining early-termination charges on your current plan + new upfront + new monthly × term. A “free upgrade” pitch that still leaves you £40+/month for 24 months is not free; it is a different loan.
Trade-in can change the cash story. Get the quote inside the checkout you will actually use (Apple Trade In vs network trade-in vs high-street). Quote tools and basket prices diverge, especially in the first 48 hours around launch day.
