Next update: when Tesco Mobile’s Clubcard Price offers change after 1 November 2026, or at the start of November 2026.
By: Switch Editorial Team, Switch Squid Ltd
As of 24 October 2026, Tesco Mobile is a good, well-rated network that runs on O2, with Clubcard Price SIM only deals from £9 a month for 12GB and £14 a month for 100GB on 24-month contracts, frozen for the whole term. It came second of 15 providers for customer satisfaction in Which?’s 2026 survey. The catch is that the best prices need a Clubcard and a two-year commitment; without one, prices are higher and rise every April. This SwitchSquid review covers Tesco Mobile’s network, prices, roaming, Clubcard perks and problems, and compares it with EE and giffgaff. We don’t currently have a commission link for Tesco Mobile, so the buttons on this page go to giffgaff, which uses the same O2 network. We may earn a commission if you buy through those links; it doesn’t change the price you pay.

giffgaff 80GB: £10 a month on the same O2 network
- 80GB of 5G data with unlimited UK calls and texts for £10 a month on an 18-month plan, when we checked on 23 October 2026
- No credit check, and no mid-contract price rises on 18-month plans
- Main limitation: the 80GB is an offer on giffgaff’s 25GB plan that must be activated by 30 October 2026, and you commit for 18 months
Is Tesco Mobile any good? The short verdict
Tesco Mobile is one of the better choices on the O2 network, and one of the most consistently well-liked UK networks. In Which?’s January 2026 survey of 5,137 mobile customers it scored 81%, second only to Talkmobile, and well ahead of EE (74%), Vodafone (72%) and O2 itself (67%), according to ISPreview’s report of the results.
Its prices are competitive if you shop at Tesco. With a free Clubcard you get lower prices that stay frozen for the length of your contract, plus Home From Home roaming in 48 destinations at no extra cost. Without a Clubcard, the same plans cost more and go up each April by an amount shown when you buy.
Where it falls short is flexibility. The sharpest Clubcard prices we found were on 24-month contracts, and rivals such as giffgaff offer more data for less on shorter terms with no credit check.
What network does Tesco Mobile use?
Tesco Mobile uses the O2 network. Which? describes it as a virtual network that uses O2’s infrastructure for 4G and 5G, and Tesco Mobile’s own site says its 5G is powered by O2. That means your coverage is the same as an O2 customer’s in the same place, including 5G where O2 has switched it on and you have a 5G phone.
The same O2 network also carries giffgaff, Sky Mobile and several other brands, so if O2 is strong where you live and work, all of them are worth comparing. If O2 is weak at your address, Tesco Mobile will be too, however good the price.

Is Tesco Mobile coverage any good?
Coverage is as good as O2’s, which is widely available across the UK. giffgaff, on the same network, quotes 99% UK coverage in its Which? Switch listing. In practice, signal varies street by street and indoors, so the honest answer is to check before you buy:
Use Tesco Mobile’s coverage checker for your home, work and any regular journeys.
Ask someone on O2, giffgaff or Tesco Mobile to test their signal at your address.
Use the 14-day cooling-off period Tesco Mobile gives you to cancel if the signal disappoints.

Tesco Mobile SIM only prices in October 2026
Prices below are from Tesco Mobile’s SIM only page, checked on 24 October 2026. Every plan includes unlimited UK minutes and texts, 4G and 5G, and no EU roaming fees. Tesco shows these Clubcard Prices as an offer ending 1 November 2026.
Data | Contract | Standard price | Clubcard Price | Price rises? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
12GB | 24 months | £10 a month | £9 a month | Clubcard Price frozen for the contract |
45GB | 24 months | £13.75 a month | £11 a month | Clubcard Price frozen for the contract |
100GB | 24 months | £17.50 a month | £14 a month | Clubcard Price frozen for the contract |
Unlimited | 24 months | £25 a month | £20 a month, plus a £50 gift card | Clubcard Price frozen for the contract |
100GB | 12 months | £20 a month | n/a | Rises to £21.20 on 1 April 2027 |
250GB | 12 months | £25 a month | n/a | Rises to £26.50 on 1 April 2027 |
2GB | 12 months | £8 a month | n/a | Rises to £8.48 on 1 April 2027 |
Over two years, the 100GB Clubcard Price plan costs £336 (24 × £14). The same 100GB on a 12-month standard plan costs £20 a month before April’s rise. If you want Tesco Mobile, the Clubcard route is clearly the better buy, and the Clubcard itself is free to join.
There are also Clubcard point bonuses on some 12-month SIMs: Tesco Mobile says you can collect an extra 300 points in any billing month when you spend £50 or more in one Tesco shop (up to 3,600 points, worth £36), or 250 extra points when you spend £30 or more on fuel at Tesco (up to £30). Which is better, EE or Tesco Mobile? Tesco Mobile vs EE vs giffgaff
Here is how comparable plans stack up on prices we checked on 23 October 2026. EE’s prices are from its SIM only page and giffgaff’s from its own plan pages.
Tesco Mobile | EE | giffgaff | |
|---|---|---|---|
Network | O2 | EE | O2 |
Around 50GB | 45GB £11 a month (Clubcard, 24 months) | 50GB £13 a month (24 months), £15.50 from 31 March 2027 and £18 from 31 March 2028; flash sale ends 5 November | 40GB £8 a month (18 months) |
Around 100GB | 100GB £14 a month (Clubcard, 24 months) | 100GB £17 a month (24 months), £19.50 from 31 March 2027 and £22 from 31 March 2028; flash sale ends 5 November | 80GB £10 or 100GB £15 a month (18 months) |
Unlimited | £20 a month (Clubcard, 24 months) | Unlimited from £12 a month with EE One savings (EE says you save up to £20 with EE One); £14.50 from 31 March 2027, £17 from 31 March 2028 | £14 a month (18 months, limited time) |
Mid-contract price rises | None on Clubcard Prices; rises each April otherwise | Yes, in pounds and pence each March | None on 18-month contracts |
Credit check | Yes on pay monthly | Yes on pay monthly | No |
Which? customer score (Jan 2026) | 81% | 74% | 79% |
Our view: EE wins on speed and coverage reputation, and is worth paying for if O2 is weak where you live. Tesco Mobile beats EE on price and customer satisfaction if you have a Clubcard. On pure price, giffgaff is ahead of both: 80GB for £10 a month is £4 a month less than Tesco’s 100GB Clubcard plan, on the same network, with no credit check and a shorter 18-month term. The 80GB offer needs activating by 30 October 2026, by giffgaff’s terms. See our giffgaff SIM only deals page for the full range.
Choose giffgaff 40GB for £8: £3 a month less than Tesco’s 45GB Clubcard plan
- £8 a month for 40GB against £11 for Tesco Mobile 45GB on a 24-month Clubcard Price
- Same O2 coverage, 18-month term instead of 24
- giffgaff says the 40GB offer on its 6GB plan runs to 4 December 2026
Are there any problems with Tesco Mobile?
Most customers are happy, judging by its Which? score, but there are a few things to watch:
Non-Clubcard prices rise every April. The rise is shown in pounds and pence when you buy, so it is not a surprise, but it does add up over a 24-month contract.
The best deals are long contracts. The cheapest Clubcard Prices we saw were 24-month plans, which is a long time to commit in a market where prices keep falling.
Coverage is O2’s. If O2 struggles in your area, Tesco Mobile will too.
The current Clubcard Price offers are time-limited. Tesco shows these Clubcard Prices as an offer ending 1 November 2026. Prices may change after that date.
Customers quoted by Which? praised it as “affordable with a good, reliable network and excellent customer service”.
Can you use Tesco Mobile abroad?
Yes. Tesco Mobile’s Home From Home lets pay monthly customers use their UK data, minutes and texts in 48 destinations across the EU and beyond at no extra cost. That is a genuine advantage over networks that now charge a daily fee for EU roaming. Check Tesco Mobile’s roaming page for the list of destinations and any fair use limits before you travel, especially outside Europe. If you travel often, our EU roaming SIM only deals guide compares which networks still include roaming.

Which is the best mobile provider in the UK?
On customer satisfaction, Which?’s 2026 survey put Talkmobile top on 83%, Tesco Mobile second on 81%, and Smarty, giffgaff and VOXI joint third on 79%. On price for big data, the smaller O2 and Vodafone-based brands usually lead. The best provider for you is the one with strong signal at your address and the allowance you need at the lowest total cost. Our best SIM only deals this month roundup, VOXI review and iD Mobile review can help you narrow it down.
How to switch to Tesco Mobile or giffgaff and keep your number
Check O2 coverage at your address.
Text PAC to 65075 from your current phone to get a free PAC code. Our guide on how to get a PAC code has the details.
Order your SIM and give the PAC code when asked. Your number usually moves within one working day.
Your old contract ends automatically when the number moves, though you may owe early exit fees if you are still in contract.
Who it suits
Good for: Tesco shoppers with a Clubcard who want frozen prices for two years; people who travel in Europe and want roaming included; anyone who values well-rated customer service on O2.
Consider alternatives if: you want more data for less on a shorter term (giffgaff); you need no credit check; O2 is weak where you live (EE or a Vodafone-based network); or you do not want a 24-month contract.

Important conditions
Tesco Mobile prices were checked on 24 October 2026. Tesco shows these Clubcard Prices as an offer ending 1 November 2026.
Clubcard Prices need a Tesco Clubcard; the price is frozen for the minimum term, with April increases only after it ends.
We don’t have a commission link for Tesco Mobile; the buttons on this page go to giffgaff plans on the same O2 network.
giffgaff’s 80GB for £10 is a promotion on its 25GB plan that must be activated by 30 October 2026, and 40GB for £8 is a promotion on its 6GB plan. Both are 18-month contracts; leaving early costs 50% of the monthly price for each remaining month, under giffgaff’s terms.
EE’s prices are a flash sale that EE says runs to 5 November, with increases each March.
FAQ
What network does Tesco Mobile use?
Tesco Mobile uses the O2 network for 4G and 5G. Your coverage is the same as an O2 customer’s in the same place, so check O2’s signal at your address before you switch.
Is Tesco Mobile good value without a Clubcard?
Less so. Without a Clubcard, the 100GB 24-month plan is £17.50 a month instead of £14, and prices rise each April. The Clubcard is free to join, so most people should sign up first.
Is Tesco Mobile better than giffgaff?
They use the same O2 network. Tesco Mobile scored 81% for customer satisfaction in Which?’s 2026 survey against giffgaff’s 79%, but giffgaff is cheaper for big data, with 80GB for £10 a month on 18 months and no credit check.
Does Tesco Mobile charge for roaming in Europe?
No. Home From Home lets pay monthly customers use their UK allowance in 48 destinations across the EU and beyond at no extra cost. Check the destination list and fair use terms before travelling.
Can I cancel Tesco Mobile if the signal is poor?
Yes, within the 14-day cooling-off period. After that you would usually pay to leave early, so test the signal as soon as your SIM arrives.
Does Tesco Mobile do credit checks?
Yes, for pay monthly SIM only contracts. If you want to avoid a credit check, giffgaff’s 18-month contracts and Tesco Mobile’s own pay as you go SIMs don’t need one.
Our verdict
Tesco Mobile is a solid, well-liked O2 network, and its Clubcard Price plans are worth it if you are happy with a frozen price for two years. If you want more data for less, on the same network and a shorter term, giffgaff’s 80GB for £10 a month is the better buy.
Check O2 coverage, then pick giffgaff 80GB for £10
- Check O2 signal at your postcode before you order
- Free SIM by post or eSIM; keep your number with a free PAC code
- Leaving early costs 50% of the monthly price for each month left, under giffgaff’s terms
